How Conversational Hypnosis Can Make Your Life Better

by Lee Dobbins

For most people, the word 'hypnosis' brings to minda comedian getting people to do funny things or a doctor with a swinging watch. While this type of hypnosis is useful, there are many other uses of hypnosis, including one that you can use to persuade people without them even realizing you are doing it. It's called conversational hypnosis, and even you can use it to convince people of anything you want!

This type of hypnosis isn't new, and it is so subtle that most people are never even aware it is happening. You see, there are no swinging watches or snapping of fingers, it simply uses different words, voice tones and other techniques that are normal during conversation.

Conversational hypnosis isn't black magic, It is simply employing conversational techniques in a specific way so as to bypass your subjects critical mind and make them open to your suggestions. This is much like what we do every day - try to persuade your co-workers to go with your idea, try to get someone to do you a favor or to get agreement on something. Of course, those of us who know hypnotic conversation techniques are much more successful at getting the outcome we want!

This type of hypnosis can be used on 1 on 1 conversations, and is also used frequently by public speakers addressing a whole audience of people. It makes use of certain conversational techniques like intonations and language patterns along with things like vocal timing to gain influence over others. Anyone can learn it and can adapt it for use in a variety of situations. If you are on the receiving end of this type of hypnosis, you might find yourself engrossed in what the speaker has to say and hypnotized, if you will, to agree with him easily changing your opinion from what it may have been before.

One of the most interesting uses of conversational hypnosis was by a doctor who used it on his patients due to it's healing power. This doctor, Milton Erikson, used it in conversation because hypnosis was banned for use in the 1940's and early 50's. Upon being summoned by the American Medical Association to be disciplined for his use of hypnosis, he used those same techniques on the board itself and instead of having his license revoked, the charges were dropped and the next year the AMA dropped the ban on hypnosis allowing it to be used by any doctor who wanted to!

While some may see conversational hypnosis as a way of manipulating people, it can also be seen as simply a more persuasive use of conversation. While some will try to use it for bad purposes, there is no need to be afraid of it since your subconscious will never allow you to be forced into anything that would bring you harm. You can use it effectively to get what you want - whether it is getting someone to buy a product from you, swaying your spouse to see your point of view on a matter or getting your boss to agree with your ideas. This very powerful hypnotic tool can be learned and used to make your life, and perhaps even the life of those around you better!
